Matthew – a really local choice!

Matthew has built up a strong reputation as an effective campaigner for local people championing many local issues and getting results.  Matthew was born and brought up in the constituency and was educated locally, including at the Castle School in Thornbury.  He has lived in the constituency his whole life and currently lives at the family farm at the edge of Thornbury and represents the Severn Ward on South Gloucestershire Council.  Matthew comments, “I am a strong believer in public service and passionate about achieving results for my community.  As a Councillor I believe I have demonstrated that I can get things done, whether it is changing Council policy to protect rural schools, defeating developers in planning battles, securing funding for local schools or dealing with hundreds of individual issues.”  Matthew has recently been given responsibility for community care and housing on the Council.
