More police on the beat

The Conservative Council has announced proposals to fund an extra five Police Community Support Officers to patrol and work with communities across South Gloucestershire. They are making the proposal to invest £150,000 in increasing the uniformed police profile locally in response to increasing concerns about anti-social behaviour and problems across the district.  Matthew Riddle, who has been campaigning for more police for Thornbury, Yate and local villages comments, "We know that across South Gloucestershire there is an increasing concern about the problem of anti-social behaviour, particularly when gangs congregate and cause disturbance and distress to local residents.  Whilst there are many initiatives to try to tackle this, ultimately the main solution many people feel is a greater police profile locally.  We agree with this which is why we are proposing to directly fund an additional five PCSO's to patrol and work with our local communities providing reassurance to local residents."
