GREEN LIGHT FOR PARISH HALL EXTENSION
Planning approval has been granted for a £346K extension to Olveston Parish Hall.
The village facility is being extended to provide better facilities for the existing pre-school group that use the building.
The extension is being funded by South Gloucestershire Council as part of a major district-wide investment in child care and early years provision.
Cllr Sheila Cook, Conservative Cabinet Member for Children and Young People on South Gloucestershire Council said:
“We are pleased to be able to support the bid submitted by Olveston Pre-School because there is clearly a need to improve child care and early year provision in this part of the district.
The enhancements that the council’s funding will provide will also promote sustainability because it will reduce the need for local residents to travel to nearby settlements for similar services.”
Local councillor Matthew Riddle (Con, Severn) added:
“I was very pleased to help and support the pre-school in their application for the grant and the planning permission, both of which have been successful. This is great news for the Pre-School and all the users of the parish hall.
As a community, we are hugely grateful to Cllr Cook and the Council’s Children and Young People department for recognising the potential of this scheme to not only transform the village’s child care facilities, but also boost an important community asset.”
