Fighting the over expansion of Alveston

South Gloucestershire Council have published their new ‘Local Housing Plan’, which has identified a number of sites in Alveston that they feel would be suitable for housing. Taken together, these sites total 222 potential new houses in the village.

Increasing the number of houses in Alveston would increase pressure on schools, health services and overwhelm our road network. The proposals would create more congestion and raise issues about road safety and the impact on local pollution levels.

Alveston is an historic village, which does not have the infrastructure to support such large-scale development, and we are calling on Liberal Democrat run South Gloucestershire Council to reconsider their plans. In their local manifesto, Lib Dem Councillors pledged and promised to bring back local decision making, making sure the voice of the community was heard and involved on key issues such as housing and planning.

We need your views on the plans to increase the number of houses in Alveston so we can demonstrate the community’s views clearly to decision makers at the Council. If you can fill in the 60-second survey below, sharing your thoughts, we can fight these proposals to increase the size of Alveston together as a community.
