We’re investing more money in the NHS.
So why not help decide how it’s spent locally? The NHS has seen the biggest ever cash increase in recent years. And now, we’re investing £250 million to create 9,000 new NHS beds in England.
It’s part of our long-term plan for the health service. It means we can hire more doctors and more nurses. Improve access to NHS dentistry. Invest in new technology to fight diseases like cancer. And put more money into mental health services.
Here in South Gloucestershire, we’re making progress. Together, we have secured the money we need to completely redevelop Thornbury Health Centre and we have funded the Dyson Cancer Centre scheme, comprising a new cancer hospital at the Royal United Hospitals Bath. And in our local area, there were 37 more full-time-equivalent doctors and 93 more nurses in September 2023 than there were in September 2022. This is local delivery on this Government’s commitment to recruit 50,000 more nurses.
But there’s more we can do. I need your views so I can make the case for our community to the Health Secretary and NHS providers.
