Our councillors were out and about last weekend speaking to local businesses in South Gloucestershire to mark Small Business Saturday.
Conservative councillors in Stoke Lodge, Frenchay and Downend, Chipping Sodbury, Little Stoke, Bradley Stoke, Severn Vale and elsewhere met business owners to help to spread the word about the importance of keeping it local.
Supporting small businesses isn’t just about shopping local. It’s about investing in the heart of South Gloucestershire.
Cllr Liz Brennan, Leader of the Conservative Group on South Gloucestershire Council, said: “It was a pleasure to meet with local businesses across South Gloucestershire for Small Business Saturday last weekend.
“Small businesses contribute enormously to the local community and it was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the challenges they face and what the council can do to help them thrive.
“At the recent meeting of the council’s Cabinet, we urged the Lib Dem/Labour administration to use it’s 2026/27 budget to explore ways the council can support small businesses. This council should champion enterprise at every opportunity, and the Conservative Group will continue to press the case for a better deal for South Gloucestershire’s businesses.”
